Use Charity or Charitable in Non-Charitable Company Name

Introduction

As the Charity Commission for England and Wales, our focus is on charities rather than companies. We may not be able to prioritise your request. You can consider using a different name that does not include 'charity' or 'charitable'.

Before you start

We only allow a non charity to have the words 'charity' or 'charitable' in its name under exceptional circumstances. You must read our guidance about this first and fully answer all the questions in the form. A copy of the Memorandum and Articles of Association will need to be attached to this form.

Do not use this form if:

* the company will be applying to register as a charity. You must complete an online application to register a charity, and the name will be considered as part of the registration process

* the company is already registered as a charity with the Charity Commission
